What autopsy does in GK2
Wikily’s Corpses and autopsy page: every corpse is six vitals (Skin, Bones, Skull, Heart, Brain, Guts) plus soft parts (Fat, Blood, Flesh). Total White and Red skulls are the sum of those parts; removing or swapping organs at the Autopsy Table changes the totals.
Public guides (games.gg, Prima, Fextralife) agree on the split goal: White for burial / graveyard quality, Red for zombie perk slots. Decide the path before you cut — see burial prep and zombie prep.
Unlock & tools
- Autopsy, Basic unlocks when you place the first body on the table (Wikily tech tree) — grants Autopsy Table I / Corpse Pallet I.
- Craft a Butcher’s / Surgeon’s / Master Surgeon’s Kit at the Jewelry Table (Metallurgy mastery ~3–6 by tier). Prima and games.gg: operating without a kit is a guaranteed fail.
- Raise Anatomy mastery (perk tree + food/sermon buffs). Wikily Autopsy Table ops run in ticks; enough successful ticks keep the organ, too few leave a Surgeon’s Error (−1 White / −1 Red) that also blocks resurrection.
- Useful Anatomy perks (Wikily perk tree): Surgeon (starts ops with 2 successful ticks), Expert anatomist (+4 Anatomy at the table), Treasure Hunter (extra coin from organs).
- Autopsy actions deplete Sanity — plan sessions around your meter (Prima / games.gg).
Recommended extraction order
- Dark Organs first (if present) — games.gg describes Dark Brain / Dark Heart variants as inflating Red and suppressing White. Remove before embalming so you don’t waste reagents. Numeric delta in our planner is a coarse estimate.
- Blood & Fat — Wikily lists each as 1 Red soft part; games.gg / Prima treat them as free (or early) Red cleanup. Always start here for burial; skip on zombie keepers if you need that Red.
- Read each organ’s skull icons (Fextralife / Wikily Body parts) — same organ name can be White-heavy or Red-heavy by quality. Prima’s rule of thumb: extract Red unless the same organ carries more White.
- Hard vitals (Brain / Heart / Guts) — need higher Anatomy (Wikily gold tiers reach mastery 13; Prima cites bronze-tier floors around Brain 8 / Heart 9 / Guts 11). games.gg also describes a “randomly destroy 2 skull values” narrative for these extracts; Wikily models the change as removing that organ’s carried skulls via tick success. Prefer Surgeon / Expert anatomist before gambling.
- Flesh / Bones / Skin / Skull — for burial, don’t strip White-carrying parts for craft loot. games.gg’s fixed Flesh/Bone/Skin deltas are planner estimates; Wikily’s model is organ-carried skulls (see organs and corpse types).
When to stop
- Burial: White leads Red (you don’t need zero Red) and White rows can be covered by decorations.
- Zombie: Red matches the collar / perk plan; all six vitals intact; no Surgeon’s Error.
- Process promptly — games.gg warns long decay can add Green skulls that cannot be removed.
- Optional polish: embalming after organ work Unverified naming (Wikily Solution/Injection for Corpses/Zombies vs early Lye/Glue/Gold/Silver articles).

FAQ
Is this an official Graveyard Keeper 2 guide?
No. Unofficial fan site, unaffiliated with Lazy Bear Games or the publishers.
What should I extract first on a burial corpse?
Dark Organs if present, then Blood and Fat. Read remaining organs before cutting White-heavy parts.
Why did my skulls jump differently than this guide?
GK2 launched recently; Wikily models skulls as the sum of parts, while some early articles use fixed deltas. Confirm on the autopsy table; our calculator uses configurable estimates.
Do kit charges matter?
Yes for most hard extracts. Blood and Fat are the usual free / soft-part cleanup. Attempting ops without a kit fails.
Where can I model a full plan?
Use the autopsy calculator — set starting skulls, toggle extractions, and pick hard-organ outcomes.
